On the Road: The showdown in Hockeytown

DETROIT — We’re in Hockeytown, U.S.A., in downtown Detroit at Joe Louis Arena, getting ready for the Wild to take on the Red Wings tonight. The Wild just finished up their morning skate — it looks like Shane Hnidy and Brent Burns are going to be out of the lineup tonight. Cal Clutterbuck is going to be a game-time decision. If Clutterbuck can’t go, it looks like it’ll be Robbie Earl getting the nod.

Nicklas Backstrom will get the start in goal tonight, and in all likelihood it’ll be Josh Harding in the nets tomorrow in Buffalo.

The Wild are coming off a tough loss in a shootout to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, with only 11 shots on goal. We’re going to catch up with veteran forward Andrew Brunette tonight in our Qwest Wild Live pregame show, starting at 6 p.m. on FOX Sports North, and in-game Wild head coach Todd Richards’ brother Travis Richards is in town — Travis Richards lives in Grand Rapids and was a draft choice of the Minnesota North Stars. He also played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers with his brother Todd. He’ll be joining us at the start of the second period tonight.

It’s the Wild and the Red Wings in a critical Western Conference showdown tonight. Tune in to FOX Sports North at 6 p.m. for Qwest Wild Live.
