This Regional Semifinal pits a legendary program in six-time State Champion Benedictine against Chagrin Falls, a team who has made the playoffs six straight years, including two trips to the state finals in 2009 & 2010.

Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Joe Schaefer, the Benedictine Bengals are led by tailback Jerome Baker, who has already gotten collegiate offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida, Arkansas and Louisville among others. Chagrin Falls is led by 2012 All-Ohio WR Matt Iammarino who not only brings in great stats on the field, but off it as well (4.4 GPA). This is Head Coach Mark Iammarino’s 19th year with the Tigers.

7:00pm – Cleveland Heights Tigers (10-1) vs. St. Edward Eagles (9-1)

The Cleveland Heights Tigers, under the direction of Head Coach Jeff Rotsky, earned their first playoff victory a week ago when they beat Wadsworth 35-7. Cleveland Heights enters Saturday’s matchup the winner of 8 straight games. On the season, the Tigers are averaging 41 points a game and as a team, they’ve rushed for three thousand yards. Defensively, they’re limiting their opponents to just 16 points a game and on the season, they’ve recorded 31 sacks and have scored five defensive touchdowns.

Under the direction of Head Coach Rick Finotti, the Eagles of St. Edward are the #1 seed in Division I, Region 1. Three years removed from winning the state title, St. Edward is once again one of the favorites to win it all. Last week the Eagles recorded their second shutout of the season when they beat Shaker Heights in the first round of the playoffs 49-0. The only blemish on the Eagles’ schedule is their week 7 loss to St. Ignatius. On the season, St. Edward has rushed for nearly two thousand yards and passed for more than 2100 yards. Like Cleveland Heights, St. Edward is limiting their opponents to just 16 points a game and averaging better than 44 points a contest.

The last time these two teams faced each other was during the first round of the playoffs in 2011. St. Edward won that game 28-14.
