Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman and general manager Mike Rizzo are expected to meet Thursday afternoon to talk about an extension, according to the Washington Post.
Zimmerman had previously set Saturday as a deadline to end discussions in order to not distract from the season or his teammates. This could be the last chance for a face-to-face meeting prior to that deadline.
Zimmerman, 27, was an All-Star in 2009, but had just 395 at-bats last season. He hit .289 with 12 home runs and 49 RBI.
