Morris selected for Rising Stars event
Phoenix Suns rookie forward Markieff Morris is among nine first-year players selected for the 2012 Rising Stars Challenge during NBA All-Star Weekend in Orlando, Fla.
Morris, a 6-10, 245-pound forward who was drafted with the 13th pick out of Kansas, is averaging 7.2 points and an NBA rookie-best 5.0 rebounds in 25 games. He also leads all rookies in three-point percentage (.460), seventh-best in the NBA overall.
Joining Morris on the team are Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving, Minnesota’s Ricky Rubio, New Jersey’s MarShon Brooks, Detroit’s Brandon Knight, San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard, Cleveland’s Tristan Thompson, Carolina’s Kemba Walker and Minnesota’s Derrick Williams.
