Joe Haden Draft Bio

STATS Senior Writer

A likely top 10 pick heading into in the NFL combine, Haden might have

seen his stock drop a bit after he didn’t run well at the event. While

still considered by many to be the top cornerback available, was

unofficially timed at 4.57 seconds on his first 40-yard dash and 4.60

on his second. Those efforts caused some scouts to wonder if he worth

taking on the first day of the draft. While he didn’t fare well at the

combine, Haden’s three-year career for the Gators cannot be overlooked.

Playing in arguably the best football conference in the nation and

usually tasked with covering the opponent’s top receiver in press

coverage, Haden recorded eight interceptions in 40 games, including a

career-high four as a junior. Made 157 career solo tackles and had

three sacks last season. Possesses an excellent combination of size,

strength and athleticism, and balance and agility may help make him a

star at the pro level. A solid run defender, though has a tendency to

go for the big hit rather than wrap up and use the proper tackling

technique. Could slip out of the top 10 picks, but likely to hear his

name called within the first 20.
