Jake Odorizzi to start for Rays on Monday

Right-hander Jake Odorizzi will start Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays in place of left-hander David Price, the Tampa Bay Rays announced Saturday.

Odorizzi, gained in a blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Royals last December, is 4-0 with a 3.83 ERA in eight starts with Triple-A Durham this season. He had a 9.00 ERA (five earned runs) in five innings with the Rays in spring training.

Price, the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday for the first time in his major league career after straining his left triceps in the third inning of a loss to the Boston Red Sox.
