Highlights of Power Five changes at NCAA convention

Highlights of the legislation passed by the Power Five conferences Friday at the NCAA convention in Indianapolis:

MEDICAL BENEFITS

Requires all 65 schools to provide medical coverage to any athlete who suffered an injury in college for at least two years after they leave campus. Mental health coverage also is included. Each school can determine who qualifies.

BASKETBALL BREAKS

Players will have three consecutive days off around Christmas break, though each team will be exempt from the rule once every four years if it plays in a qualifying tournament.

RECRUITING

The daily spending cap for student hosts raised from $40 to $75; schools can provide snacks to recruits and their families during official visits.

MEN'S HOCKEY

Recruits will able to receive pre-draft advice from knowledgeable experts before enrolling in college without losing eligibility.

RESTITUTION

The minimum amount of improper benefits that require restitution doubled from $100 to $200.

COACHES/STAFF

The Power Five leagues approved the addition of a graduate assistant coaching swimming and diving; women's rowing grad assistants to receive free training table meals; volunteer coaches to receive game tickets and meals during recruiting trips.

BENEFITS

Changed the word ''spouse'' for ''significant other'' for personnel benefits.
