FOX Sports San Diego Celebrates Padres Military Opening Day

San Diego – FOX Sports San Diego (FSSD) celebrated Sunday’s 2013 Padres Military Opening Day presented by Northrop Grumman by pulling out all the stops to honor our local servicemen and women.

An extended Padres Live pregame show, hosted by Mike Pomeranz and Mark Sweeney, featured live coverage of the Padres on-field Military Opening Day ceremonies as well as an interview with Northrup Grumman’s sector vice president and site manager of the Unmanned Systems Center of Excellence, Jim Zortman.

Meanwhile, FSSD was providing a stylish ride to the game for 12 military families affiliated with the non-profit group Armed Services YMCA of San Diego by means of the FOX Sports San Diego Fan Express. The 55-person branded motor coach brought families right up to the gates of Park at the Park where the children were featured on-air during the Padres Live “Instructional” segment. Five families received the ultimate VIP treatment and watched the Padres face the Dodgers from inside FOX Sports San Diego’s luxury catered suite.

During the second inning, the FOX Sports San Diego Girls, Katie and Nathalie, searched the stands and upgraded the seats of three servicemen and one servicewoman to seats directly behind home plate in the Padres Lexus Home Plate Club.

Despite a loss by the Padres, the atmosphere surrounding Military Opening Day presented by Northrop Grumman no doubt left a lasting memory on San Diego’s military community once again.
