Familiar ground for the Buckeyes

Ohio State’s football team is heading for another Bowl Championship Series bowl game. The team appearance in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 4 will be OSU’s sixth straight BCS bowl and ninth overall, most among FBS schools.

Ho, hum.

How do the Buckeyes keep the fantastic from becoming routine? It’s a little like Groundhog Day for Ohio State and the legion of fans that follows them from one BCS bowl game to another.

Ironically, the team has a daily routine called “Groundhog Day” that is used to keep the team’s competitive juices flowing.

Devon Torrence said he’s not sure why they call it Groundhog Day, but he says it’s pretty tough. Dan Sanzenbacher described it as a competition that runs over consecutive days of practice with the score carrying over from one day to the next
