Deshaun Thomas: Oden “looks unbelievable”

It’s hard to ever lose interest in the potential of the top pick in the draft. Greg Oden, picked first by the Trailblazers in 2008, has a well-documented career of injury and less-than-savvy off-court moves, but remains an intriguing available NBA player. Especially in Ohio, because of his Ohio State connections and rumored interest on the part of the Cavaliers.

Ohio State’s Deshaun Thomas has been working out with Oden as he gets ready for the NBA draft. This might just be propping up a friend in the press, but Thomas seems pretty darn positive about Oden’s potential to come back. Quoted by Bob Finnan of the News-Herald
“Man, he looks unbelievable,” he said at the draft combine. “He’s running. He’s lifting weights. You might be seeing a comeback. He looks like he’s ready to go. He’s running, getting in shape. I’ll tell you one thing. For a big 7-footer that’s all he does, running and getting in shape. He’s looking right.”
Of course, the Cavaliers aren’t alone in looking at Oden. The Miami Heat have also expressed interest in the mammoth center. To the Heat, who have a long record of absconding with Ohio basketball players, I just have one thing to say: Shoo. Go away. No one likes you.
There, that should do it. Are they gone yet?
