Cavs focus on defense, evaluation as Wizards visit

In winning their preseason debut Tuesday night, the Cavaliers outran the Bobcats. They also were pretty good on the defensive end — especially in the first, third and fourth quarters.

The Cavaliers are back in action Thursday night at home against the Wizards (7pm, no TV), and with No. 1 overall pick John Wall and sharpshooter (pun intended) Gilbert Arenas on the other side, playing solid defense is the focus for the Cavaliers again.

“We have to. That’s who we are,” new coach Byron Scott said after Tuesday’s game. “That’s the type of team we’ve got to be on the defensive end every single night.

Hopefully the next couple weeks we’re going to tighten up some things and we’ll get better. But, the effort was there
