Busted For Social (Media) Faux Pas

— TWEETLE DEE and TWEETLE DUM: Receiver Chad Ochocinco has been fined for tweeting. He was fined $25,000 today by the NFL office for violating league policy against using an electronic device for social media. The rules say players are not permitted to use electronic devices to post messages 90 minutes before kickoff and not again until postgame media obligations are finished. Number 85 was fined for tweeting twice during the prohibited period during Friday’s 8 p.m. home game against Philadelphia. Chad’s first posted message was transmitted at 6:50 p.m. local time and the second was sent at 9:53 p.m., before the game had ended.

— ODOM OUT: Defensive end Antwan Odom, a ferocious, record-setting sack force from the right edge early last season, until he got hurt, is hurt again. Odom, who missed the last 10 games of 2009 after suffering a ruptured Achilles, is going to miss the rest of preseason with a knee injury. Odom reaggravated an old knee injury in the Denver preseason game and he has not seen action since then. Odom, who set an NFL record with seven sacks in the first two games of last season, said he expects to be ready to play in the Bengals’ Sept. 12 season opener at New England.

— THE TRENT TRIO: It was a veritable pickapalooza for Bengals cornerback Morgan Trent in Cincinnati’s 22-9 win over Philadelphia. The Bengals are saying that Trent’s three interceptions Friday was a rare NFL preseason accomplishment that has been achieved just twice in 16 years.
