Big Ten baseball coming to Target Field
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins are still waiting to find out if they’ll have the chance to host Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in 2014. But the team did announce Friday that it will play host to another large-scale event.
The Twins and Target Field will host the 2013 Big Ten Baseball Tournament, marking the first time the event will be held at a major league facility. It will be the first time since 2004 that Minneapolis has played host to the tournament. Minnesota has also hosted the event in 198, 1986, 2000, and 2002-04.
After Target Field, currently in its third year of operation, hosts the event in 2013, the Big Ten teams will play their postseason tournament in Omaha, Neb., at TD Ameritrade Park, which is also the new site of the Division I Men’s College World Series.
