– NEW YORK – Anthony Mason, the rugged power forward who was a defensive force in the NBA from the 1990s into the early 21st century, has died.

– DURHAM, N.C. – The two winningest men’s coaches in Division I history meet when Mike Krzyzewski leads No. 4 Duke against Syracuse and Jim Boeheim – who was memorably tossed in the final moments of the Orange’s last visit to Cameron Indoor Stadium.

– RIO DE JANEIRO – IOC President Thomas Bach holds a news conference at the close of a 2 1/2 day executive board meeting in Rio, host of next year’s Olympics.

– BRADENTON, Fla. – Pittsburgh Pirates centerfielder Andrew McCutchen has cemented his status as one of baseball’s brightest stars. His goal in 2015 is to help cement the franchise’s status as perennial contenders.

-GOODYEAR, Ariz. – In one season, Corey Kluber went from the middle of Cleveland’s rotation to the Indians’ ace to the best pitcher in the American League. Stoic and steady, Kluber might be baseball’s next big thing. By Tom Withers.

– PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Rory McIlroy is home for the weekend, and Patrick Reed is among those in the hunt at the Honda Classic.

– HAMPTON, Ga. – The race car stolen from a hotel parking lot near Atlanta Motor Speedway is headed back to its NASCAR shop in North Carolina. Police found Team XTREME’s No. 44 car about 20 miles away from where it was taken, with no apparent damage but too late to make this weekend’s race.

– MIAMI – After losing at the buzzer Friday night, the Miami Heat return home to face Atlanta. The Hawks are the runaway leaders in the Eastern Conference.

– SUNRISE, Fla. – Newly acquired Jaromir Jagr is expected to make his Florida Panthers debut when they face Buffalo.

– LOS ANGELES – Ronda Rousey defends her bantamweight title against fellow unbeaten 135-pounder Cat Zingano in the main event at UFC 184. Boxing champion Holly Holm also makes her UFC debut against Raquel Pennington in the promotion’s first show in Southern California in two years.
