Chipper Jones will be 40 years old on Tuesday. Expect the Dodgers to give a farewell gift to him, since this is the Braves’ only regular-season trip to Dodger Stadium this year. … The Braves are 10-2 since opening the season 0-4. … Starter Randall Delgado, who is 2-1 with a 5.74 ERA after taking the loss against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, likely will be sent to Triple-A Gwinnett this week to make room for Tim Hudson. Hudson has been on the disabled list while rehabbing from offseason back surgery and is scheduled to start against the Pirates. … For his career, Matt Diaz is 12-for-25 with a home run at Dodger Stadium. … At 12-4, the Dodgers are tied with the Nationals for the best record in the NL. They are 6-0 at home this year. … The Braves will not face NL Cy Young award winner Clayton Kershaw, who is 1-0 with a 1.61 ERA. He struck out nine in seven innings on Saturday.
Braves 1B Freddie Freeman, who had 12 RBIs last week, is third in the NL with 15 RBIs, behind two Dodgers – Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier – who have 22 and 21 RBIs. Kemp leads the NL in the triple crown categories. He also has nine home runs and a .450 average. … Braves CF Michael Bourn hit .433 last week (13-for-30), scored six runs and stole six bases. … Brandon Beachy leads the NL with a 0.47 ERA. … Braves reliever Jonny Venters hasn’t allowed a run in 6 2/3 innings. … Dodgers closer Javy Guerra leads the NL with seven saves.
Jones went 4-for-19 last week (.211) and rookie SS Tyler Pastornicky, who sat out the last two games of the Arizona series, is struggling. Pastornicky is hitting .175 with an on-base percentage of .214. … Jair Jurrjens has been the Braves’ worst starter with a 0-1 record and 8.10 ERA. He’s pitched only 13 1/3 innings in his three starts, allowing 21 hits and 12 runs. … Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis is hitting .222 and 1B James Loney is at .217, although he hit .286 last week. … The Pirates are last in the NL in runs, with 30. That’s 13 fewer than the Phillies, who have 43, and 61 fewer than the Braves.
