ACC Gameday Experience: Wake Forest

Editor’s note: As we count down to the start of the college football season, FOX Sports Carolinas ranks the game-day experience around the Atlantic Coast Conference. We start Monday with No. 12 Duke and Wallace Wade Stadium, and unveil the top choice on Tuesday, Aug. 21. (item rankings are based on a scale of 1 through 10):

8 – BB&T Field, Wake Forest (31,500)

Beauty (6): When the hill is full this place can be a seven or an eight. The stadium is small, but the new luxury suites, press box and the cosmetic work done outside (would love a Brian Piccolo statue) add to the overall experience.

Tailgating (7): This may surprise some, but the fans here take it seriously, there’s plenty of space for visiting fans, and the southern belle touch only adds to it.

Buzz (6): Wake fans have learned to properly get into games when the Demon Deacons are playing well. They don’t need prompting by the PA guy anymore. Very underrated experience.

Fans (4): The smallest BCS school by far, there just aren’t that many Wake fans to go around. But the ones that show up have learned to give BB&T a nice atmosphere.

History (1): Only until recently have any big games been played here.

Remark: This isn’t the same experience as going to games at Alabama, Ohio State or Texas might be, but if you want to watch major college football with no bad seat in the house in a unique atmosphere, this is a nice option.
