TEMPE, Ariz. — Another day, another honor for Arizona State defensive tackle Will Sutton.
Athlon Sports named Sutton to its All-America First Team on Tuesday, a day after he earned the same honor from CBSSports.com.
CBS Sports also named Sutton its Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday, a little more than a week after conference coaches voted him the Pac-12’s Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year.

The honor from Athlon Sports is Sutton’s third All-America nod, the first coming from the American Football Coaches Association. Four organizations recognized by the NCAA — Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News and the Walter Camp Football Foundation — have yet to name their All-American teams. With the AFCA honor already in hand, Sutton needs only two of those organization’s nods to become a consensus All-American.
Sutton led the Pac-12 and ranks fifth in the nation with 1.82 tackles for loss per game. He had 20 total TFLs on the season, including 10.5 sacks. His 0.95 sacks per game ranked third in the Pac-12 and 12th in the nation.
As the awards continue to roll in, the big question on Sutton lingers: Will he be back next year? After ASU’s win over Arizona in the regular season finale on Nov. 23, Sutton said he would decide after ASU’s bowl game. ASU is set to take on Navy in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Dec. 29 in San Francisco.
