Spain, US, Argentina to play Olympic warmup event

The United States will play Spain and Argentina in a pre-Olympic

warmup event that marks the 20th anniversary of the arrival of the

”Dream Team.”

The three countries will play a round-robin style tournament at

Palau Sant-Jordi, starting July 22. Spain will face the United

States in a Beijing Olympic gold medal rematch on July 24.

Led by NBA greats Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson,

the Americans won gold at the 1992 Barcelona Games – the first

Olympics with professional basketball players competing.

London will host this year’s Olympics from July 27-Aug. 12, with

men’s basketball play starting on July 29.
