Ryan Lochte reportedly to join 'Dancing With the Stars'

It appears swimmer Ryan Lochte will go straight from the Rio Olympics to the reality TV ballroom as a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars."

Multiple outlets are reporting the 12-time Olympic medalist, who ended the Rio Games on an sour note with an "overexaggerated" tale at a Brazilian gas station that resulted in his being dropped by four sponsors, will join the reality TV show's 23rd season.

Lochte would hardly be the first Olympian to compete on the reality dance series; Evan Lysacek, Shawn Johnson, Apolo Anton Ohno and Aly Raisman have all twirled to success on the show.

Though watching the swimmer put on bedazzled dancing shoes and make a run for the coveted Mirrorball trophy may go far toward redeeming Lochte's tarnished image.

The 32-year-old Lochte is no stranger to reality TV, having starred in his own series, "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" that aired on E!.

The 13 celebrity contestants will be announced Aug. 30 on “Good Morning America.”

The 23rd season of "DWTS" premieres Sept. 12 on ABC.
