MONTREAL (AP) The International Skating Union has awarded the 2020 world figure skating championships to Skate Canada, which will hold the event at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Canada has been the world championship host 10 times, and each year it hosts the Skate Canada International, one of the stops on the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.

Montreal last hosted the world championships in 1932.

This year's worlds were held in Helsinki, Finland, where the Canadian couple of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won the ice dance. The Italian city of Milan will host after the 2018 Olympics. Saitama, Japan, will host the 2019 world championships.
