Longtime Swedish Olympic chairman Anderberg dies

Longtime Swedish Olympic chairman Carl-Gustav Anderberg has died

at 85.

Committee spokesman Bjorn Folin says he died Monday after an

extended illness.

Anderberg chaired the Swedish Olympic Committee from 1976 to

2000 and was later appointed honorary chairman. The committee on

Friday called him a visionary who ”saw the need to give our

athletes better conditions to compete internationally.”

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
