Weirather fastest in World Cup downhill training; Vonn 5th
Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein was fastest in a World Cup downhill training run on Friday and a less-stressed Lindsey Vonn was fifth.
Vonn was 0.79 seconds behind Weirather on the new Engiadina course after winning the first practice on Thursday.
Anna Fenninger, the defending overall World Cup champion was second, trailing by 0.11. Another Austrian, Elisabeth Goergl, was third, trailing 0.44 behind Weirather.
Vonn says ”the stress is gone” after earning a record-setting 63rd World Cup win on Monday in a super-G at Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
The American says ”everyone was just talking about the record, talking about the record. Now I feel really relaxed.”
Vonn starts favorite for Saturday’s downhill after winning three of five races this season.
