Italy might not compete in London Paralympics

The president of the Italian Paralympic committee says Italy

might not be able to compete in the London Games after its funds

were cut.

The economic crisis in Italy has put the committee in danger of

having to close before the end of the year. Luca Pancalli tells the

Italian TV channel Tg1 on Saturday that there is ”a very real

risk” that London will be out.

He adds: ”We can guarantee that our delegation can get a plane

there, but we can’t guarantee the preparation and training before

getting the plane.”

Pancalli has turned to the president of the Italian Council of

State as well as the minister for sports in a bid to keep the

committee going.
