Australia tops Netherlands for men’s title at field hockey World Cup
Defending champion Australia beat the Netherlands 6-1 to win the men’s field hockey World Cup behind three goals from Chris Ciriello.
Earlier Sunday, Argentina defeated England 2-0 for the bronze medal.
The Dutch king and queen and three princesses were part of the crowd of 15,000.
The Netherlands got off to a good start Sunday when Jeroen Hertzberger opened the scoring in the 14th minute. But Ciriello tied it six minutes later on the first of his three successful penalty corners.
