Titans hire Ray Horton as new defensive coordinator

Ray Horton worked as the defensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns under Rob Chudzinski for one season.

Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton is leaving Cleveland to take on the same role with the Tennessee Titans, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

Horton, who was believed to be new Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt’s top choice, was also Whisenhunt’s defensive coordinator in Arizona in 2011 and 2012.

As one of the highest paid assistant coaches in the NFL, Horton worked under Rob Chudzinski as the Browns defensive coordinator for one season.

The 53-year-old Horton interviewed for the Vikings’ head-coaching job this year but lost out to Mike Zimmer.
