Three takeaways from the Blue Jackets 4-0 loss to the Jets

Michael Hutchinson (34) makes a save against Columbus Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson (13) during the first period at MTS Centre.

One: They were outplayed, physically, as it seemed as if vacation mode had already started for some players. They had no pace to their game, nor were they moving their legs. They got a bit better at times, but couldn’t sustain it. They just weren’t as quick as the Jets were.

Two: Sloppy play in the second period did little to help them climb back into the game. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky went down with an apparent injury (lower-body), putting his All-Star Game appearance in jeopardy. Jeremy Morin did not return, either. There doesn’t seem to be any luck in regards to injuries with this team.

Three: Once again, Alex Wennberg looked really good in this game. The speed is slowing down for him at this level and he’s gaining more trust from the coaches, as evidenced by him being out on the ice late in games. The never-ending season of injuries is on hiatus for a few days.
