Ohio basketball legend Jim Paxson Sr. dies at 81
Ohio native and Dayton Flyers star Jim Paxson Sr. has died at the age of 81, the university confirmed Tuesday.

Paxson, born in Springfield, Ohio and a graduate of Catholic Central High School, was a member of the Flyers from 1951-3 and 1955-6. He was later inducted into the University of Dayton Hall of Fame in 1976.
After being selected with third overall pick in the 1956 NBA Draft, Paxson played two seasons in the league for the Minneapolis Lakers and Cincinnati Royals.
Each of Paxson Sr.’s sons had NBA careers as players and general managers. Jim Jr. spent six seasons as the general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers and currently works in the Chicago Bulls front office with his brother, John.
