Impressing in the minors for the Indians

Cleveland Indians prospect Jesus Aguilar is performing well in Columbus.
Carolina pitcher Ryan Merritt has been named Indians Minor League Player of the Week.
The left-hander pitched a complete game in the nightcap of a doubleheader last Monday against Frederick. The left-hander allowed a run, which was unearned, on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
Merritt has allowed just one earned run in 24 1/3 innings this season and leads the Carolina League in ERA (0.37) and WHIP (0.82). Dating back to an April 11 start at Potomac, Merritt has gone 14 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run. His ERA is also the lowest among starters in the Indians’ system.
A 16th-round pick by the Indians in 2011, Merritt started 25 games between Lake County and Carolina last season and had the fourth-best ERA (3.52) in the Indians’ system.
