Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash is one of three finalists for the Tampa Bay manager’s job.
Cash, 36, is a Tampa native and went to Florida State. He was in the Rays’ organization for two seasons (2005-06), spending most of his time in Triple-A Durham. Cash, who has been with the Indians the past two seasons, was also a finalist for the Rangers’ opening and interviewed well but Texas ended up hiring Jeff Banister.
The other finalists are Raul Ibanez, who still hasn’t announced his retirement as a player, and Royals bench coach Don Wakamatsu, who managed Seattle in 2009-10. According to Fox Sports Florida, the final three are slated to interview the week of Dec. 1. The winter meetings take place the following week in San Diego.
Former Tribe manager Manny Acta was one of 10 candidates who took part in the initial round of interviews.
