Browns’ Hoyer refutes contract report

BEREA, Ohio – Brian Hoyer has said he doesn’t want to talk contract or anything other than his quest to extend the current two-game win streak the Cleveland Browns are on.

But for a brief moment Wednesday, Hoyer addressed the situation.

Specifically, Hoyer said a report that he wouldn’t re-sign with the Browns if Johnny Manziel is still with the team "couldn’t be further from the truth."

That rumor made its rounds through the Twittersphere after it was brought up on a Bleacher Report video.

"I’ve said all I need to say about the topic," Hoyer said. "There’s no accurate information in that I’ve never talked to that guy in my life.

"But, after (the question was asked), I had to address it. My focus is on Jacksonville."

Hoyer’s contract expires after the season, and with a 99.5 quarterback rating and seven touchdown passes through five games, he’s making a strong case to get paid and get paid well. The Browns drafted Manziel in the first round last May, and Hoyer won the starting job over Manziel in a training camp competition.
