The Indians have recalled infielder Justin Sellers from Columbus as Lonnie Chisenhall has remained in Cleveland with his wife, Meredith, who is expecting the couple’s second child. Chisenhall has been placed on the paternity list.
Sellers, 28, was acquired from the Dodgers on March 2. In 13 spring training games with the Tribe, he was 9 of 20 with three doubles and three RBI. In six games so far with the Clippers, Sellers is batting .158 (3 for 19). He has played in four games at shortstop and two at third.
Chisenhall has a hit in all five games he has appeared in this season and is 6 for 15, including three doubles. Players can remain on the paternity list for 1-3 days.
The Indians open a seven-game road trip tonight against the White Sox. After a four-game set in Chicago and an off day on Monday, they go to Detroit for three against the Tigers.
