At 49 games into the season, The Blue Jackets are averaging a 1.98 HH rating (reaching over 18K Columbus homes) on FOX Sports Ohio, according to Nielsen.
This average is up +110% compared to the same number of games last season.
The 13 games in January averaged a 2.73 HH (over 25K households), up +165% to the average game rating in January, 2016.
Five of the top 10 rated games of the season occurred in January. Highlights include:
· The 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 3, the Blue Jackets franchise record straight 16th win, delivered a 5 HH (over 46K Columbus homes), making it the highest rated non-simulcast regular season game ever on FSO. The next highest rated non-simulcast regular season game was Apr. 8, 2009 @ Chicago (4.64 HH), when their 4-3 shootout victory against the Blackhawks clinched their first playoff berth in franchise history. The only regular season game that garnered a higher television rating in the history of the franchise was their inaugural game on October 7, 2000, which delivered an 8.2 HH in simulcast with WBNS 10TV.
· The franchise record 16-game winning streak for the Jackets was snapped in Washington on Jan. 5. The game posted a 4.4 HH on FSO, the second highest rated game so far this season. The rating that night peaked at a 7.46 HH, reaching over 68K Columbus homes.
· Jan. 7 vs. NY Rangers and Jan. 10 vs. Hurricanes both garnered over a 3 HH (3.36 HH and 3.27 HH respectively).
