CINCINNATI — The Reds will be without right fielder Jay Bruce for the next few games following the death of Bruce’s grandfather.
The Reds placed Bruce on the bereavement list prior to Tuesday night’s game against Arizona at Great American Ball Park. Bruce has informed team officials that he expects to return to the team Friday in Miami where it will be playing against the Marlins.
Skip Schumaker started in right field in place of Bruce Tuesday night.
The Reds recalled relief pitcher Curtis Partch from Triple-A Louisville to take Bruce’s roster spot. This is Partch’s fifth stint with the Reds this season.
