Twins vs. Orioles: Jorge Polanco's grand slam put a Minnesota Twins split squad up 5-1 in the second inning -- but the lead slowly eroded away before Francisco Pena hit a go-ahead 2-RBI double in the ninth inning. The Twins lost 8-6 to the Baltimore Orioles at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Twins' Byron Buxton and the Orioles' Trey Mancini, Craig Genry and Anthony Santander also hit home runs.

Starter Phil Hughes struck out four, giving up six hits on four runs in five innings.

Twins at Pirates: Daniel Palka's homer in the second inning scored Matt Hague in the split squad's 4-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at LECOM Park in Braydenton, Fla.

Starter Ryan Vogelsong struck out one and gave up four hits on three earned runs in 2 1/3 innings against the Pirates. Taylor Rogers threw two hitless innings.

The Twins' Travis Harrison also homered and Hague doubled three times.
