No. 10 Minnesota ties No. 6 Ohio State, loses shootout

No. 10 Minnesota and No. 6 Ohio State finished in a 1-1 tie Saturday, with the Buckeyes outlasting the Gophers in the eighth round of the shootout.



The Buckeyes won the shootout on Gordi Myer’s goal in the eighth round to give Ohio State two conference points.

After a scoreless tie in the first and the majority of the second period, Ohio State’s Mason Jobst finally broke through with 34 seconds remaining in the second.

Minnesota tied the game 1-1 with 9:33 left in the third when Brent Gates Jr. fired a rebound past Ohio State goalie Sean Romeo.

The Buckeyes outshot Minnesota 39-35 in the contest.
