Perez starts strong in Twins’ 5-3 loss to Yankees

Martin Perez held New York scoreless for five innings, but the Yankees tallied four runs in the sixth and rolled to a 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon.



On the day, Perez allowed four runs on three hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. He walked four hitters and fanned four.

Willians Astudillo led the Twins’ offensive charge, notching two hits and hustling from first base to score a run on Tyler Austin’s double in the fourth inning.

Twins top prospect Royce Lewis played the entire game at shortstop and went 1 for 4 with a double.

Minnesota reliever Ryne Harper logged another scoreless inning. He hasn’t allowed a single run all spring training.

The Twins host Colorado on Tuesday afternoon.
