Maeda worked three innings and allowed no runs on one hit while fanning four batters. The 32-year-old now has seven strikeouts in five innings this spring.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh. Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco notched a one-out single to center field to get things started. Five pitches later, first baseman Miguel Sano roped a double down the left-field line to scored Drew Maggi — who was pinch-running for Polanco — from first base for the game’s only run.

Both Minnesota and Baltimore managed just three hits apiece.

Twins relievers Alex Colome, Tyler Duffey and Taylor Rogers all pitched one inning of scoreless ball. Colome whiffed all three batters he faced.

Minnesota returns to the field Wednesday to take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 12 p.m. The game will be televised on FOX Sports North.
