Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:09 p.m. ET

The Washington Capitals have a difficult task this weekend.

Stretches of tough games throughout the NHL schedule are not uncommon. The Washington Capitals have certainly had their fair share already. This coming weekend presents another difficult task to the top team in the league.

Back-to-back games are never easy, especially when there’s travel involved. That’s what lies ahead for the Caps.

The weekend gets started on Saturday with an intriguing matinee matchup in Montreal. It will mark the third meeting of the season between the two Eastern Conference powers, with each team winning on the other’s home ice.

Montreal took the 2-1 decision in DC on December 17, while the Caps put up four goals in a victory at Bell Centre on January 9.

After playing the day game in Canada, the Caps will head home to get ready for Sunday’s nationally televised tilt with the Los Angles Kings.

The puck will drop at 12:00 pm at Verizon Center on Sunday for the first of two meetings between the Capitals and the Kings this season. Washington has fared well against Western Conference foes this season, posting an overall record of 11-2. The Caps last lost at home to a team from the West on November 8 when they were defeated 3-0 by the San Jose Sharks.
