Washington Capitals and Minnesota Wild Complete Trade for Center Tyler Graovac and a 2018 NHL Draft Pick.

The Washington Capitals have acquired center Tyler Graovac from Minnesota for a fifth-round draft pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. The 24-year-old Graovac scored nine points last season with the Minnesota Wild while appearing in 52 games, he has nine career points in 59 career games. Graovac was drafted all the way back in the seventh round of the 2011 draft.

Tyler also played 26 games for the Iowa Wild in the AHL last season scoring 15 points. And so far throughout his AHL career, Graovac has managed 102 points in 202 career games putting his points per game average dead even at 0.50, a stat that hurts him, however, is his career plus/minus in the AHL which sits at a horrendous minus 54. He's fared much better in the NHL though with a career plus six rating.

Graovac is still young and at 6'5" and 210 pounds, is a very big guy that can provide some fourth line depth for the Capitals if a center were to be taken in the expansion draft. So this deal definitely keeps a lot of doors open for the Capitals. And the Wild get a solid pick in the middle of the draft as well which is never a bad thing.

With the expansion just seven days away a lot of teams are now preparing for anything, and with Washington's lackluster post-season again, anything could be possible when it comes to them and what they decide to do.
