Vancouver Canucks at New Jersey Devils: TV, Radio, News, Predictions

The Vancouver Canucks kick off a five-game Eastern conference road trip tonight against Cory Schneider and the New Jersey Devils.

After a two-day break, Vancouver Canucks are back in action this afternoon.

They play the first of five games in the Eastern timezone, which means we can all get used to early game-starts for a while.

Tonight they face a tough test in the New Jersey Devils. Taylor Hall and company have not lost a home game in regulation this season.

Recent history between these two teams is also on the Devils’ side. New Jersey won both games last year by a combined score of 7-5.

Bo Horvat and Jacob Markstrom will try to reverse both of those trends.

Gameday Notes:

Lineup News:

The Canucks will roll with the same lineup that won the last game. Brandon Sutter on the top line, Michael Chaput centering the second, and Bo Horvat between Sven Baertschi and Alexandre Burrows:

After making 38 saves against Toronto, Ryan Miller will get a game off. Jacob Markstrom will start.

There is injury news for both team. For the Devils, the news is all good. Beau Bennett and Sergei Kalinin have both been activated from IR and will return tonight.

With these two additions to their lineup, expect New Jersey to go with:

Taylor Hall — Adam Henrique — P.A. Parenteau
Michael Cammalleri — Travis Zajac — Kyle Palmieri
Beau Bennett — Sergei Kalinin — Devante Smith-Pelly
Miles Wood — Vernon Fiddler — Nick Lappin

However, the news is not-so-good for the Vancouver Canucks. They have lost Derek Dorsett for the season:

Apparently Dorsett has struggled with this neck injury on and off for several years. It has gotten to the point where it requires surgery and rehab to correct. Get well soon, Derek!

Vancouver had already been playing without Dorsett for the last few games, so they will not need any extra bodies for now. However, long term this may pave the way for Jake Virtanen to step back up to the NHL. Or for Jack Skille, Joseph LaBate or Jayson Megna to take a more prominent role.
