Vancouver Canucks at New Jersey Devils: Preview, Lineups

The Vancouver Canucks will try to take down an old friend when they visit Cory Schneider and the New Jersey Devils on Sunday

With a 3-2 shootout win on Sunday over the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Vancouver Canucks have won three out of their last four games.

Though they still don’t have the looks of a team that can compete for the playoffs right now, the Canucks are certainly finding ways to stay in games despite being without Alexander Edler, Chris Tanev and Jannik Hansen.

They’ll try to make it four out of five when they visit one of the NHL’s biggest surprises this season, the New Jersey Devils.

WHO’’S ON OFFENCE:

Henrik Sedin: Once again, Henrik is leading the Canucks in scoring. But who’s surprised?

Loui Eriksson: He’s starting to find his groove with the Sedins. Can he keep it going?

WHO’’S ON DEFENCE:

Ben Hutton: With Edler and Tanev out, Hutton is producing like a top-pairing blueliner. But can he sustain this level of play?

WHO’’S IN NET:

New Jersey Devils

OVERVIEW:

2016-17 Record: 11-7-6

Home Record: 7-0-2

2015-16 Record vs. Canucks: 2-0-0

Goals For: 63

Goals Against: 66

Power Play: 15.4% (19th)

Penalty Kill: 85.5% (4th)

Leading Scorers: Travis Zajac (24 GP – 8 G – 12 A – 20 PTS), Mike Cammalleri (18 GP – 9 G – 8 A -17 PTS), Taylor Hall (16 GP – 6 G – 9 A – 15 PTS)

Injuries: Sergey Kalinin (illness, day-to-day), Beau Bennett (leg, day-to-day)

WHO’’S ON OFFENCE:

Taylor Hall: He’s provided the Devils with much-needed offence. His speed could easily be a problem for a not-so-fast Canucks defence.

Mike Cammalleri: Like Hall, Cammalleri’s blistering speed off the rush can create a lot of chances.

WHO’’S ON DEFENCE:

Andy Greene: He’s an ideal stay-at-home defenceman. The Sedins will be in for a long night.

WHO’’S IN NET:

Cory Schneider: This guy does everything to keep his team in games. Schneider’s playing like a Vezina candidate. Again.

PROJECTED LINEUP:

Taylor Hall — Adam Henrique — P.A. Parenteau

John Quenneville — Pavel Zacha — Devante Smith-Pelly
