US blanks Sweden 4-0 in women’s hockey in Canada

The United States has defeated Sweden 4-0 in women’s hockey,

advancing to the final of the Four Nations Cup behind the strong

play of goaltender Jessie Vetter.

Hilary Knight, Kacey Bellamy, Monique Lamoureaux-Kolls and Erika

Lawler scored for the Americans on Friday. Vetter stopped all 20

shots, and the U.S. outshot the Swedes 42-20.

The U.S. takes a 2-1 record in round-robin play into Saturday’s

final. Sweden drops to 0-3 and will play for the bronze medal.

U.S. coach Katey Stone says her team ”got better as the game

went on, kept it simple and made a lot more team plays.”
