The Penguins provided a first-look at their full Stadium Series uniforms

The Pittsburgh Penguins will face the Philadelphia Flyers in an outdoor Stadium Series game at Heinz Field later this month. Both teams will wear special uniforms for the interstate rivalry contest — the Penguins in gold and the Flyers in black.

On Thursday, Pittsburgh provided a first-look at the full uniform. Check them out below.

You’ll notice that the Pens have decided to go with gold buckets to compliment the jerseys, much like they did in the ’80s. It’s a bold look, but one that they can pull off surprisingly well.

But the best part of the uniforms is the special goalie gear from both Pittsburgh netminders. Marc-Andre Fleury is going with a lot of gold in his equipment scheme, while his mask pays tribute to some of his favorite teammates over the years.

Matt Murray also has a very cool mask…

…but his all-black pads are the real highlight of the set.

Not only is that going to look awesome, but it’s also going to be tough for opponents to track the puck after firing shots in on Murray.
