Blues RW Stewart struck in face by puck, leaves game vs. Wild
St. Louis Blues right wing Chris Stewart left the game against the Minnesota Wild in the first period after being struck in the face by a puck on Tuesday.
Midway through the period on Tuesday, a shot by Minnesota forward Jason Pominville hit Stewart, who quickly crumbled to the ice. He skated off under his own power, holding a towel to his face and leaving a small pool of blood where he was. He didn’t return to the game.
Stewart has 13 goals and 9 assists for the Blues, who were already playing without key scorers Alex Steen and David Backes.
