WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) Carl Soderberg had a goal and an assist to help the Colorado Avalanche defeat the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 on Monday night.

Jarome Iginla scored his 13th of the season and Semyon Varlamov made 36 saves for Colorado.

Joel Armia scored his second NHL goal for Winnipeg, and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 31 shots.

The Jets again failed in an attempt to win a third straight game this season.

Playing the opener of a six-game homestand, their longest of the season, the Jets were without injured forwards Adam Lowry, Mark Scheifele and Drew Stafford.

Winnipeg outshot the Avalanche 12-10 in a scoreless first period. Both teams were 0 for 1 on the power play.
