The Pittsburgh Penguins are searching for a new general manager after firing Ray Shero last month, and one candidate for the job is Pierre McGuire.

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reported Monday, citing sources, that McGuire has done multiple interviews for the position.

McGuire is best known as a rinkside reporter and analyst for NBC and NBC Sports Network. He also has worked for TSN.

The 52-year-old does have ties to the Penguins’€™ organization. As Matheson mentioned, McGuire was an assistant coach for Pittsburgh in the early 1990s and was on the bench during the team’€™s back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1991 and 1992.

McGuire’s NHL resume also includes time as an assistant GM and head coach of the Hartford Whalers.
