Round 1 was historic — but Round 2 wasn’t bad, either.
After a wild Game 7 tripleheader saw one rival down another (Rangers over Flyers), a wild card shock a 1-seed (Wild over Avalanche), and — finally — the Kings complete a comeback for the ages, the second round shaped up to be just as good.
And while the upstart Wild gave the Blackhawks a scare, and the Kings and Ducks showed us that they do care about hockey in SoCal, the Eastern Conference was where the action was at in the conference semis. The Bruins and Canadiens resumed an Original Six rivalry that stacks up with any feud in any sport; Sidney Crosby finally hit Broadway — literally. And when the handshake lines were finally formed in those two series, we had 14 games, two OTs, one 2OT, and a couple of stunning results. (Who says Game 7 at home is an advantage?)
