NHL Free Agency: Top Unrestriced Free Agent Forwards

NHL Free Agency: With an abundant of UFA’s out there, this time of year will be even more interesting than past years. Here are just a few of the stand out UFA’s teams will consider heading into free agency speculations.

NHL Free Agency: Another lovely time of the year is among us, July 1st, where UFA’s roam the free agency market and teams begin to engage in contract talks. For some, it only means a contract extension with their current team, but for others, it can mean a new city, team, teammates, coaching staff, gear, trainers, neighbors, etc. This is the time of the year where teams are trying to fill their roster with that one key piece and often look to the UFA’s on the market to get the job done.

Here are some notable UFA’s are:

  • Martin Hanzal, Hanzal just got traded to Minnesota around the trade deadline last year and when Minnesota brought him in they expected much more from the veteran center. Due to Minnesota’s cap space and some other contracts expiring, Hanzal could be looking at a new destination soon.
  • Joe Thornton, the bearded wonder turning 38-years-old come next season, is one of the top UFA’s out there. Being that Thornton spent much of his career in San Jose, it would be odd to see him go. But the LA Kings and other teams have shown interest in the veteran forward.
  • Alexander Radulov, coming off an extremely successful first season after a five-year departure, Radulov want’s a big extension and the reports are saying Montreal has turned down Radulov contract offer. If they the two cannot come to an agreement where might the 30-year-old Russian be off too….
  • Jaromir Jagr, the ageless wonder is yet again a UFA he continues to stay afloat in the NHL and produce fine numbers for his age, despite his age the real question is how long is Jagr looking to sign with a club for?
