Rangers put kibosh on capital letters on Twitter for Caps series

You may have noticed something a little strange if you follow the New York Rangers on Twitter.

As they prepare for a second-round playoff matchup against the Washington Capitals, the Rangers’ social media account suddenly has stopped using capital letters in its tweets.

From quotes to news announcements, the social media team has made a concentrated, though unannounced effort against capital letters. (Get it? Down with the capitals?)

Some caps slip in when mentioning a player’s Twitter handle and in the URLs, but the effort is still there:

The best part of all of this is the fact that the Rangers never publicly stated they were ditching capital letters. All of a sudden — boom. Capital letters stopped appearing in the team’s tweets.

Pretty clever.
