New York Islanders Daily: Defying Logic And Ignoring Arena Talk

How the New York Islanders went from the worst team in the Eastern Conference to the hottest all while dealing with off the ice issues is amazing.

Honestly I feel like ESPN could make a 30 for 30 on the New York Islanders season. What if I told you the worst team in the league waived their goalie, fired their coach and then rose from the depths of despair back to relevancy all while dealing with arena drama…an ESPN Film. I could see it now!

Hey if Moneyball got made into a movie it’s not too much for a simple documentary! But seriously, the Islanders unsuspected turnaround is astonishing as Jeff Capellini  puts it.

Doug Weight has come in and given the Islanders an extra boost to put them over the top. It seemed like they were turning it around right before Capuano got fired but Weight brings something to the table that Jack didn’t, swagger.

When he was hired he said the Islanders would play the right way and win hockey games. That’s what they’ve done.

John Tavares is playing at a superstar level, Thomas Greiss played himself to a new contract and the defense looks worlds better.

All of this mind you with a terrible off the ice situation that could be easily looked at as a distraction. It hasn’t effected the team one iota. The Isles new found confidence is helping them get back in the playoff conversation.
